Miguel Fontes’ professional activity began in 1994 as a researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon. From October 1995 to November 1997, Miguel Fontes was an assistant to the Prime Minister's Office, with functions within the scope of the Social Advisory, having also integrated several working groups and commissions during this period, namely, the Commission for the Reform of the Religious Freedom Law and a Working group for the definition of a new Higher Education Financing Model in Portugal. Between November 1997 and April 2002, Miguel Fontes was a member of the XIII and XIV Constitutional Governments as Secretary of State for Youth, having been Vice-President and President of the Ibero-American Youth Organization (intergovernmental organization for cooperation in public youth policies) in that capacity. and Secretary General of the 1st World Conference of Ministers of Youth held under the aegis of the United Nations. From 2002 until present years, his professional activity has been developed as a manager and administrator of several companies, both in the private sector and in the state business sector. In the private sector, Miguel was a manager and administrator of several companies, namely Director of MRB Holding S.G.P.S., S.A.; MRB Promotion Imobiliária S.A; Somalfa - Gestão e Investimentos Imobiliários S.A; and non-executive director of Leisurecorp, S.A - Gestão de Health Clubs S.A. From 2010 to 2015 he was the Executive Director of Aicep Global Parques - Gestão de Áreas Empresariales e Serviços, S.A. Miguel Fontes works at Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa, having worked in the Entrepreneurship and Social Economy Department and in the Quality and Innovation Department. He has been the Executive Director of Startup Lisboa since January 2016, and in that capacity is responsible for the design, implementation and management of the Creative Hub in Beato.
